John Raymond is the founding pastor of New Horizon Church. August 29, 2005 was the day New Horizon had set their official Vision Casting Sunday to launch as a church. Hurricane Katrina happened on August 28, 2005, just one day before. Much of the area suffered massive damages and the building New Horizon was set to meet in was now 5 feet under water. Despite the confusion and despair during such a hard time for this area, God remained sovereign and provided us the opportunity to move into our current building. Pastor John's vision to build a dynamic ministry for the Kingdom never stopped. The building was completely gutted after having 5 feet of water inside and years of repair work began.
After a fresh launch in April of 2014, New Horizon has tripled in size and is known for its life-giving culture and focus on leading people to an intimate relationship with God.
John has a passion for building a complete ministry that can provide spiritual growth for every person locally and globally. After a 6-year process, New Horizon is the owner of The Bridge Radio 88.7 FM which reaches the entire Gulf-South Region and streams live to the entire globe. Lakeside Christian Academy is now open for enrollment to provide a Christian education to students from preschool to 12th grade.
John and his wife Liz have three children (John Derek, Monica & Benjamin) and two grandchildren (Emma and Eliza.)
